Spring Hills Somerset Residents Celebrate National Pink Day With Games, Food

A Flamingo toss was one of the games played by Spring Hills Somerset residents during National Pink Day.

It was Pink Day at the Spring Hills Somerset Assisted Living center June 23, complete with various types of Pink Flamingos.

Center staff dressed in pink – as did some of the residents – and residents were treated to games and musical entertainment.

There was a Pink Flamingo toss – in which a player had to toss a ring around an inflatable flamingo – and the ghoulie ball toss, which required a player to toss said ball into a bucket.

There were also refreshments, not the least of which was a drink called a Pink Flamingo, available in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions.

“I thought it would just be fun and bright and happy for a different holiday,” said the center’s director of recreation services, Susan Porecca.

The musical entertainment also centered around pink songs, she said.

In addition to the Pink Flamingo beverage, Porecca said, residents would be offered shrimp toast and white and pink chocolate popcorn.
