Skeeters Salvage Series Finale With 4-3 Win
Bridgewater, NJ – The Sugar Land Skeeters (12-20, 48-54) salvaged the series finale against the Somerset Patriots (19-13, 69-33) by winning 4-3 Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
In the top of the first inning catcher Travis Scott slugged a home run (3) to give Sugar Land a 1-0 advantage.
The Patriots took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning as third baseman David Vidal and right fielder Michael Burgess each pounded RBI singles while another run crossed via a wild pitch hurled by Derek Blacksher.
Sugar Land cut the deficit in half at 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning as third baseman Patrick Palmeiro drilled a RBI single.
The Skeeters grabbed a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a RBI double by right fielder Delwyn Young and a RBI single by designated hitter Chris Wallace.
Blacksher earned the win (5-3) tossing six innings while allowing three runs. R.J. Seidel suffered the loss (2-4) lasting five innings while surrendering four runs. Derrick Loop notched the four out save (11).
