Skeeters Blank Patriots In Rain Shortened Game 5-0

sept02FINALSugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (23-29, 59-63) shutout the Somerset Patriots (28-24, 78-44) 5-0 Wednesday evening at Constellation Field. The game was called after six innings due to rain.

 

In the bottom of the second inning the Skeeters tallied five two out runs to take a 5-0 advantage. Center fielder Denny Almonte and Delwyn Young each recorded RBI doubles. Shortstop Amadeo Zazueta poked a RBI single while first baseman Travis Scott added a two RBI single.

 

Michael Nix earned the win (1-0) tossing six innings while allowing no runs on one hit. R.J. Seidel suffered the loss (2-5) lasting five innings while surrendering five runs.
