ShopRite Dietician Provides Free Health And Wellness Counseling

ShopRite of Somerset on Elizabeth Avenue has a new Registered Dietician.

Marisa Wagner offers her services at no charge at the store, and joins more than 100 other dieticians at ShopRite stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.

“As we kick off our ‘Fuel Better’ campaign, we’re excited to expand our wellness services at ShopRite of Somerset with Marisa,” Ali Sumas, of Village Supermarket, said in a press release. “We’re excited that Marisa will be providing our shoppers with ideas, product suggestions and recipes that will help boost their energy and help them feel great.”

As the new Registered Dietitian for the ShopRite of Somerset, Wagner provides complimentary health and wellness services for customers such as free one-on-one nutrition counseling, according to the release. Wagner also offers recipes with healthy alternatives, provides information on pantry makeovers, and navigates the aisles with shoppers to help them better understand food labels. In addition, Wagner partners with local hospitals, schools and non-profits to conduct free health and wellness-focused workshops and seminars.

Wagner, a long-time resident of Northampton, PA, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. She received a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

In her spare time, Wagner enjoys snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, yoga, gardening and reading.
