Riversharks Defeat Patriots 6-4 In 10 Innings

610newsBridgewater, NJ – The Camden Riversharks (19-27) defeated the Somerset Patriots (31-14) 6-4 in 10 innings Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. The teams split the four game series.

 

In the top of the second inning first baseman Joel Guzman blasted a home run (3) to give Camden a 1-0 advantage.

 

Somerset tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning as shortstop Robert Andino sliced a RBI single.

 

Camden smacked back-to-back home runs in the ensuing half inning to grab a 4-1 lead. Left fielder Ryan Strieby socked a two run home run (4) while Jose Gil blasted a solo home run (2).

 

The Patriots rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to even the score at 4-4. Andino and first baseman Thomas Neal ripped RBI doubles while center fielder Scott Cousins sprayed a RBI single.

 

Third baseman Michael Rockett clubbed a two out, two RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to make the score 6-4 which would be the final.

 

Matt Gorgen earned the win (1-1) in relief despite blowing the save in the ninth inning. Daniel Sattler sustained the loss (2-1) in relief. Zach Braddock notched the save (1) pitching a perfect final frame.
