Recycle Christmas Trees In Colonial Park

County Park CommissionResidents wishing to recycle their Christmas trees may do so from Dec. 26, 2013 to Jan. 31, 2014 at Parking Lot F in Colonial Park, 156 Mettlers Rd.

Trees will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week.

The recycling is sponsored by the Somerset County Park Commission.

Each family is limited to one natural tree. The trees must be free of all ornaments, wires, netting and tinsel. Wreaths and garland are not recyclable, so they will not be accepted.

This is open to families only, dealers and groups will be rejected.

The trees will be turned into wood chip mulch, which will be used throughout the park system to mulch plantings. Some chips/mulch will be made available to the public at each of the drop-off sites at no cost.

For information, call the Somerset County Park Commission Horticulture Department at (732) 873-2459, ext. 21 or NJ Relay at 711 for individuals with a hearing or speech impairment, Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
