Police: Township Man Carjacked, Then Bank Account Looted

Police are searching for two armed men who they say forced a township man to withdraw money from a bank ATM before stealing his car.

Police said the man, a Van Cleef Road resident, told them he’d arrived at his house at around 11 p.m. Jan. 16 when he was approached by two men armed with handguns. The men forced him into the back seat of his 2008 Toyota Highlander, and then drove him to a local bank.

Once at the bank, the men withdrew an unknown amount of money from the ATM machine using the man’s bank card, police said.

The men then drove the victim to South Middlebush Road, where they dropped him off and drove away.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Mark Keller at (732) 873-5533, extension 3148.
