Police: Princeton Man Commits Suicide Near Griggstown Causeway

A 48-year-old Princeton resident killed himself Oct. 7 near the Griggstown Causeway, police said.

The man shot himself in the chest, police said.

Township police received a 9-1-1 call at about 3:59 p.m. reporting a “disturbed, possibly suicidal male” in the area, police said.

When township police arrived at the scene, they found Montgomery police officers trying to help the man, according to a release about the incident.

EMS workers from Kendall Park First Aid Squad and paramedics from Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, transported the man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 5:11 p.m.

The causeway was closed for about two hours during the investigation, police said.

Police did not identify the man.
