Police Log: May 24 – 27, 2014

Police shieldA car owned by Jorge Serrano of Lakeland, Fl. was parked on Grosser Place when it was struck by the plow on a sanitation truck driven by Scott Marcjie of Middlesex. Marchie told police he thought he had room between Serrano’s car and another to pass.

Deneice Kinhgorn of Somerset was cited for careless driving after she told police that she’d fallen asleep at the wheel at Amwell Road and Cedar Grove Lane. Her car left the road and hit the electronic crosswalk and street sign.

May 25

A car driven by Ariel Welch of New Brunswick struck a wooden pillar in Naaman Williams Park. Welch told police she did not see the pillar.

§

Nicole Cooper of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car struck a parked car in a Route 27 parking lot, knocking off its front bumper.

§

Carlos Fuentes of Hillsborough was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving struck one driven by Pavan Sennamsetty of Claymont, De., while it was turning from Amwell Road to Olcott Street.

§

Cars driven on Rue Chagall by Rahman Qureshi of Franklin Park and Hala Khurram of Somerset collided. Police said Qureshi’s car backed into Khurram’s.

§

A car owned by Ty VanWagner of Avon, Id. was struck while it was parked on the Weston Canal Causeway. The other car then fled the scene, police said.

Lynda Rivera of Edison told police that she misjudged the height of an Easton Avenue bank’s drive-through overhang and struck it with the rental truck she was driving.

May 26

Dale Dickson of Newark was cited for driving while on the suspended list after his car struck a curb and mailbox on Easton Avenue. Dickson said he fell asleep at the wheel, but that he had been up the previous 48 hours because his child was in the hospital.

§

Gene Chamberlain of Galion, Oh. was turning his tractor-trailer from Franklin Boulevard to Highland Avenue when it hit the traffic light. Chamberlain told police that he could not make a wider turn because there was a line of cars waiting to turn left from Franklin.

§

Cars driven by Michael Valosin of Jendall Park and Jagdish Vasudev of Princeton collided as they were backing out of their parking spaces in a Route 27 parking lot.

May 27

A school bus driven by Ana Lopez of Somerset collided with a car driven by Sharon Zyskowski of New Brunswick on Voorhees Avenue. Lopez said Zyskowski’s car hit her, while Zyskowski said her car was stopped when it was struck by the bus.
