Police Log: July 23 – 31, 2017

July 25

  • Brianna Jones of Mt. Laurel was driving down Canal Road when an approaching car veered over the double-yellow line, forcing her to veer to the right. Jones then veered left, overcorrected and left the road, hitting a telephone pole.

July 26

  • Shawn Fontaine of South River was cited for careless driving after his car collided with one on Somerset Street, driven by Jose Gomez of New Brunswick. Gomez said Fontaine’s car turned in front of his, onto Irving Street.
  • Randella Rogers-Sirmans of Somerset was cited for careless driving and failure to observe a stop sign after her car collided with one at Society Hill Boulevard and Crabapple Lane, driven by Judith Goodheart, also of Somerset. Police said Rogers-Sirmans did not stop for the stop sign on Crabapple, causing the accident.

July 27

  • Cars driven by Averie Wilson of Manville and Robyn McGuire of South Bound Brook collided on Weston Canal Road, at the Route 287 on-ramps. Wilson said she was making a left onto the ramp, and saw McGuire’s car approaching with its right turn signal on. Thinking McGuire was turning onto the highway, Wilson made her turn, and the two collided. McGuire said she was signaling for a turn she was going to make further up the road. After impact, McGuire’s car damaged a traffic signal.
  • Richard Flora-Guitterrez of North Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended one on Route 27 by Arpita Vyas, also of North Brunswick. The impact pushed Vyas’ car into the rear of one driven by Leonard Ciuffreda of Lawrenceville.

July 28

  • Karon Henderson of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car collided with one driven on Hamilton Street by Michael Drecolias, also of Somerset. Drecolias said he was crossing Norma Avenue when his car was broadsided by Henderson’s.

July 29

  • Mariah Robinson of Somerset was cited for driving without a license after her car backed into one in an Easton Avenue parking lot, driven by Keneeth Abram of North Brunswick. Robinson said she backed up to avoid a collision with an oncoming car on Easton Avenue.

July 31

  • Alexandra Elicone of Belle Mead was cited for careless driving after her car hit one parked on Hamilton Street, owned by Larry Henderson of Somerset. Elicone said she reached down to pick up her purse, which had fallen on the floor, and inadvertently turned into the parked car.
