Police Log: Aug. 8 – 14, 2017

Aug. 8

  • Michael Laing of Franklin Park was cited for improper passing after his car struck one on Jacques Lane driven by Viralkuma Shah, also of Franklin Park. Laing’s car was passing the other when they collided.

Aug. 9

  • A car driven on Route 27 by Wilhelm Laznovsky of Princeton was rear-ended by one driven bu Rahime Hicks of New Brunswick.
  • Tyrone Greene of Brooklyn was cited for driving with a suspended license after his car was sideswiped on Route 27 by a car driven by Diogenes Delapazpena of Somerset.
  • Curtis Karl of Somerset was cited for careless driving after police said he made a left turn from Easton Avenue to Cedar Grove Lane in front of a car driven by Nelcido Delarosa-Palcencio of Somerset, and the two collided.

Aug. 11

  • Larry Trussell of New Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended one on Route 27, driven by Isabella Gonzales of North Brunswick.
  • Ashiru Rahman of Somerset was cited for driving with a suspended license after his car rear-ended one on Easton Avenue driven by Matthew Hale of Metuchen. Rahman told police that he nodded off before striking Hale’s car.
  • Amber Hurtado Sevilla of Maryland was cited for failure to observe a traffic signal after her car collided with one driven by Henry Rollins of Somerset at Elizabeth Avenue and Old New Brunswick Road. Rollins said he was on Old New Brunswick Road, in the intersection, when Hurtado Sevilla’s car blew a red light. Hurtado Sevilla said she didn’t know the light had turned.

Aug. 12

  • Manoj Deb-Roy of Hillsborough was cited for careless driving after police said his car turned in front of one driven on Easton Avenue by Kevin Gulliford of Piscataway.
  • Owen McPherson of Somerset was negotiating a curve on Veronica Avenue when, he told police, he lost control of his car due to wet pavement and bad brakes, left the road, and struck a tree. Police said a witness said McPherson was speeding.

Aug. 14

  • Kiana Gonzalez-Mercado of Woodbridge was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way after her car collided with one driven by Scott Murphy of Lebanon. Murphy, who was driving a Board of Education van, said he was driving on New Brunswick Road when his van was struck by Gonzalez-Mercado’s car, who was crossing New Brunswick on Willow Road. Gonzalez-Mercado said she thought the road was clear. After impact, Murphy’s van spun around and then overturned.
