Patriots Walk Off On Throwing Error In 12th

824newsBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (24-20, 74-40) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (19-25, 55-59) 3-2 in 12 innings Monday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. A throwing error by pitcher Cory VanAllen plated shortstop Robert Andino who scored all the way from first base as the Patriots won for the 11th time in walk-off fashion this year.

 

In the top of the sixth inning right fielder Delwyn Young recorded a RBI sacrifice fly to give Sugar Land a 1-0 advantage.

 

The Patriots jumped in front with a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning as Michael Burgess smacked a mammoth two run home run (11).

 

Left fielder Jeff Dominguez evened the score at 2-2 in the ensuing half inning as he drilled a home run (2).

 

Daniel Sattler earned the win (6-2) in relief. VanAllen suffered the loss (1-3) in relief.
