Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (22-17) defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (11-28) 1-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning when Michael Crouse launched his first home run as a Patriot.

“I realized they were pitching me fastballs away,” said Crouse. “He got behind 1-0. I was looking for a fastball middle-away, got my pitch and put a good swing on it.”

Michael Kelly (1-3) suffered the complete game loss, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings pitched. With the win, the Patriots swept the day-night doubleheader, after taking the early game by the score of 7-2.
