Patriots Battle To 4-3 Win Over Bluefish

728rollerwebBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (12-9, 50-41) defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish (11-10, 41-50) 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.

The Bluefish took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-run double by Endy Chavez.

Eric Farris got the Patriots on the board in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI double. David Vidal followed with a two-run home run (12) that gave Somerset a 3-2 lead.

“I’m just continuing to stay within myself and not do too much when I’m ahead in the count. I’m just trying to get good pitches to hit, get on base for the guys that are behind me that are going to drive me in,” Vidal said.

Bridgeport’s Luis Nunez tied up the game in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single.

Kyle Roller gave the Patriots back the lead in the sixth inning when he launched a no-doubt solo shot to deep right field for his first home run in Somerset. He finished the game 3-for-4 with the go-ahead home run that was the difference in the game.

“I’m just trying to get my timing back,” said Roller of his first game at TD Bank Ballpark. “I was able to get some things working together for me tonight and good things happened.”

Nik Turley (1-0) picked up the win with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts in his Patriots debut. Jonathan Albaladejo (9-4) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in six innings pitched. Jon Hunton earned his 24th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.

The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday night with a 7:05 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The game includes Amazin’ Mets Night with a special appearance by Mookie Wilson.  For tickets, call 908-252-0700 or visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
