In Your Opinion: Connell Responds to Fitzgerald on Substitute Teacher Pay
This is to address Mr. Fitzgerald’s concerns.
Board involvement is what created this concern.
Having studied the board for a few years I feel I can speak to it. One of the problems I have noticed with the board budget is set when the state releases the budget at the last possible moment, so the board releases the budget at the last possible moment.
This leads to last minute scrambling to present the budget and people fighting for what they care for.
Without getting too political, the administration presented a budget, which the board did not approve. Administration went back to the drawing board and thus, subs got a pay cut.
I am not saying what is right or is wrong, but administration has to present a budget, if the board disagrees, then administration has to find places to make it up.
You are asking the board to help fix a problem they created. Maybe they can help fix it but understand how it started.
