Life Story: Phulmattie Lakhraj, 74; Long-Time Township Resident

Phulmattie Lakhraj passed away on Aug. 31 at St. Peter’s University Medical Center in New Brunswick. She was 74 years old.

Mrs. Lakhraj was born in Guyana and came to the United States in 1991. She has resided in Franklin Township since then.

She was employed by Quality Cosmetics in Somerset.

Mrs. Lakhraj was pre-deceased by her husband Jagdeo Lakhraj. She is survived by her children Doulat Jagdeo, Nutandeo Jagdeo, Shewanand Lakhraj and Ushamatie Guman. She was one of 10 children, having five brothers and four sisters, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will take place from 5-9 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton St. Funeral services will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 3 at Holy Cross Crematory on Cranbury Road in East Brunswick.
