Life Story: Irene Mitzi Perri, 94; Lifelong Middlebush Resident
On January 18, Irene Mitzi Perri (nee Bornemisza) passed away peacefully at her home in The Meadows, Lawrenceville. Irene was 90 years old.
She is predeceased by her parents, Antal and Frances (Broughton) Bornemisza, her husband Frank Perri, and a loving son-in-law Stephen Dziubek.
Irene was born in and a lifelong resident of Middlebush. She graduated Middlebush Grammar School, New Brunswick High School and Drake Business College. Irene and her late husband Frank married in 1948 and built their home in Middlebush on a piece of her father’s farm. Irene worked for Rutgers University and retired as Assistant Business Manager of the Athletic Department with 25 years of service.
Irene and her late husband Frank loved attending RU football games and camping throughout the United States. Raised on a farm, Irene had a lifelong love of gardening and a simple hardworking life. She loved doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, sewing and cooking. She made numerous afghans for charity. Irene was a humble, kind and generous person whose family always came first. Most of all Irene loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Irene is survived by her two children, Estelle Dziubek of Old Bridge and Frank (Jim) Perri and his wife Darlene of Lambertville. Irene leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren, Lisa, Christopher, Frank, Laura and her husband Kevin, Felicia and her husband Ken, William, Al, Christine and Lenny. Also surviving Irene are 15 loving great-grandchildren; Jake, Amanda, Aleesa, William, Cassidy, Kaela, James, Brianna, Owen, Anthony, Sydney, Kristian, Adele, Alexa and Nicholas, and two great-great grandchildren, Joseph and Lexus.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street.
Church services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 23 at Christ Episcopal Church, Paterson St., New Brunswick.
Burial will be in the family plot in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Amwell Road, Middlebush.
