Life Story: Glendora Cottrell, 99; Lifelong Somerset Resident

Glendora Cottrell, 99, died Jan. 8 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Somerset.

Mrs. Cottrell was born May 22, 1918 in New Brunswick to the late Harry and Sarah (Tompkins) Cottrell. She worked for Douglass College, Rutgers University, for many years. She loved to crochet and work in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Chester Cottrell; her brothers, William, James and Ralph; her sisters, Ruth and Rose and her daughter, Eileen Petrushev.

Mrs. Cottrell is survived by her daughter, Sara Winchester and her husband Wesley of Barnegat; her son, Harry Cottrell and his wife Vivian of Somerset; her grandchildren, Traian, Jon, Christopher, Roger, Patrick, Lee, Harry Jr. and Amy; her great grandchildren, Zachary, Tori and Keliah and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St.

Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home by Rev. David Lehmkuhl. Burial will follow at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
