Life Story: Carmella Herbert, 101; 12-Year Township Resident

Mrs. Carmella Herbert passed away on Feb. 8 at Spring Hills Assisted Living in Somerset. She was 101 years of age.

She was born in Old Forge, Pa and grew up in Scranton. She graduated from Scranton High School and lived on Staten Island for many years before moving to Somerset in 2006. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and always kept a comfortable home for her family. She was employed for many years by Guaranteed Trust in New York City as a Bookkeeper and later at Proctor and Gamble on Staten Island.

Mrs. Herbert was pre-deceased by her husband Arthur in 2006 and by her brother Joseph Pawlowski in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter, Elyse Kehoe and her husband John Paul Kehoe Jr. of Atlantic Highlands.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Paul Kehoe III and his wife Shannon of San Diego and Allison Tevald and her husband Matthew of Atlantic Highlands. She is also survived by her 5 great grandchildren John Paul IV, Kylie, Brennan, Tucker and Talia.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery on Staten Island.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 11 at the funeral home.
