In Your Opinion: Scout Parents Are The Best

By Matthew Piccoli, Somerset.

My response to the Speak Out titled, “Scouts Help With Problem-Solving” is that Scout parents are the best and I am living proof.

My father is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 113, Somerset, and my mother is involved with the Troop committee. They are committed to the Scout program and I have learned so much from them. Both of my parents work full-time jobs and yet volunteer their time with the Scouts because they believe that the Scout program should continue.

My father is an Eagle Scout and my mother participated in Girl Scouts. Our troop does not have all of the resources that they need, in fact they work with very little means, but yet throughout, they manage to get the project done and to teach our troop valuable lessons such as working hard and teamwork.

It is the parents’ hope who have Scouts in Troop 113 that the Scouting program continues and by helping our scouts in our troop and showing us that with just a little effort, scouts can get the job done and have fun doing it too. I have recently passed the Board of Reviews recently to the Star Rank in BSA program and my goal is to become an Eagle Scout just like my Dad.
