In Your Opinion: Letter Of Thanks For Hussain Day Proclamation

By Dr. S. Manzoor Rizvi.

Honorable Mr. Philip Kramer, mayor of the town, respected council members and the governing body of the Township of Franklin:

I and my entire NJ community are honored by this declaration of Imam Hussain Day.

We have a goldmine of virtues in the form of Imam Hussain, who gave the ultimate sacrifice of his life and the lives of his family members and friends for the basic core and the welfare of humanity. It was an all-inclusive sacrifice, without any distinction of caste, creed, age or sex. There were slaves and freemen, 6-months-old infant and 76-years-old fragile man.

They did not die like cowards and they did not die in vain.

We wanted to share this rich source of human sacrifice and elegance with the members of the community of our residence, hence we established Hussain Day.

We are extremely delighted that you all extended your friendly hands to join us on this virtuous journey.

Indeed, this declaration shows the broad-mindedness and best gesture on the part of this humane governing body. It also indicates the open-mindedness and acceptance of the goodness by the residents of this wonderful town.

We are deeply moved and highly appreciative of  this token of recognition and love for Imam Hussain.

God bless us all and God bless America.

Dr. Rizvi is chairman of the Message of Peace Foundation and sits on the Board of Directors of Masjid-e-Ali Mosque. This letter was in response to the Township Council’s proclamation of Imam Hussain Day.
