‘Hoops For Troops’ Fundraiser Set For Jan. 28 At High School

The second annual “Hoops for Troops Basketball Classic” fundraiser is set for Jan. 28 at Franklin High School.

Sponsored by the Franklin Athletics Booster Club, proceeds from the event will go to U.S. veterans.

Last year, the event raised $1,310 for Support Arms and $100 and 1o pounds of food for the Franklin Food Bank.

The day will feature six games between 12 teams, beginning at noon, when Bedford Academy in Brooklyn, N.Y. faces off against Prestige Academy of Linden.

At 1:30 p.m., East Brunswick takes on Hillsborough, Arts High School of Newark meets Rutgers Prep at 3 p.m., and at 4:30 p.m., Hunterdon Central faces Gill St. Bernards.

At 6 p.m., Bridgewater faces Somerville and the main event, Franklin against Piscataway, tips off at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 each, students and senior citizens $5 and children younger than 3 years are free.

The concession stand will be open to purchase food and drinks.
