Group Formed To ‘Partner’ With School Board

Alex Kharazi talks about a new citizens’ group formed to “partner” with the Board of Education.

A number of township residents have formed a group with the stated goal of helping the Board of Education.

The group, called “Student Achievement Through Collaborative Partnership,” was announced at the Jan. 22 school board meeting by one of its founders, Alex Kharazi.

Kharazi, who unsuccessfully ran for the school board last November, said the group’s mission is to “strongly advocate for policies and initiatives that directly lead to effective teaching, advance student achievement, employ effective usage of educational resources and technologies and promote communications between the Board of Education and the community.”

“We resolve to be ardent stewards of effective, accountable and responsible usage of publicly contributed finance for educational purposes,” he said.

In addition to Kharazi, members of the group include John Felix and Suzanne Maggio, who will be representing parent-student organizations; Shanel Robinson of the “C4C” citizens group; Township Councilman Phil Kramer (D-Ward 3) and Dan Glicklich, representing adult communities in town.

Kharazi said the group will actively participate in school board meetings and elections, help with raising money for the Franklin Township Educational Foundation, and help “create a culture of education,” among other things.
