Beer, Food, Music Highlight Second Annual ‘Going For The Green’ Fundraiser
The beer was flowing and the music was non-stop April 2 at the second annual “Going for the Green” fundraiser for the Franklin Food Bank.
Held in a greenhouse on Suydam Farms on Skillmans Lane, the event drew more than 150 people, organizers said.
Attendees were offered a selection of food – including brats, chicken wings and pretzels – and beer from a variety of breweries.
Music was provided by The Poorhouse Pickers, Larry Hart, American Beauty, and Lesser Seamus.
Frank Hasner, the food bank’s executive director, said the day yielded a “great turnout.”
“The weather was decent, there was certainly a good crowd here and some really fun times,” he said.
Hasher said raising money is only one goal of the food bank’s fundraisers.
“We look to raise funds, but even more importantly, to raise friends,” he said. “Getting people to understand what the food bank does and support us is critical. It’s not easy to do a lot of event, but it’s important for us to get our name out there.”
The food, prepared by Bob LaCorte and Nancy Hohnstine, was donated by Alpine Provisions, Bimbo Bread, Poland Springs Distribution, Coca Cola Distribution and Stop and Shop.
