The Somerset Patriots have announced the return of right-handed pitcher Mike Solbach.

Solbach played for Somerset during the 2012 season before having his contract purchased by the Colorado Rockies organization and reporting to Double-A.

Solbach had a 2.48 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched in 21 games for Somerset in an All-Star 2012 season.

“I think Mike really found himself again during his previous stint with us.  He quickly matured into one of our best pitchers, which carried over to success in the minor leagues. He is a tremendous person and a quality pitcher that we are thrilled to have back with us,” said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

He split last season between Triple-A and Double-A for the Rockies. At Tulsa, he went 3-1 with a 3.28 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched in 20 games.

Solbach spent his entire career in the New York Yankees organization prior to signing with the Patriots.

He was 6-4 with a 3.12 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 69.1 innings pitched in 28 games started for Tampa in 2011.

Solbach has a minor league career 16-16 record, a 4.03 ERA, and 281 strikeouts in 317 innings pitched in 165 games.
