Camden, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (47-18) defeated the Camden Riversharks (26-39) 8-1 Tuesday evening at Campbell’s Field. The game featured three different rain delays that totaled 114 minutes.
In the bottom of the first inning right fielder Carlos Guzman hit a RBI groundout to give Camden a 1-0 advantage.
The Patriots took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning as shortstop Robert Andino and right fielder Michael Burgess each socked RBI singles.
Catcher Adam Donachie clobbered a three run home run (4) to expand Somerset’s lead to 5-1 in the top of the third inning.
Somerset scored three times in the top of the fifth inning to increase its lead to 8-1. Center fielder Scott Cousins roped a RBI double, second baseman Nate Spears rocketed a RBI single while another run crossed via a throwing error by shortstop Zach MacPhee.
Sean Bierman earned the win (7-1) tossing eight innings allowing giving up just one run. Ryan Kulik suffered the loss (4-4) allowing five runs in three innings of work.
