Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (17-12, 67-32) shutout the Sugar Land Skeeters (11-18, 47-52) 5-0 Sunday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
In the bottom of the first inning Somerset exploded for four runs to grab a 4-0 lead. Third baseman David Vidal socked a RBI double. Right fielder Michael Burgess and designated hitter Adam Donachie each drilled RBI singles. Shortstop Robert Andino tallied a RBI sacrifice fly.
Burgess slapped another RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to expand Somerset’s lead to 5-0.
Lucas Irvine earned the win (6-5) hurling seven shutout innings while scattering just four hits. Sean Gallagher suffered the loss (1-9) lasting five innings while surrendering five runs.
