In Your Opinion: Give Reasons for Schools Superintendent’s Non-Renewal

By Mrs. Ardaman Singh, Franklin Park.

As an active Parent Volunteer for our School District I was extremely sad at the way the Board of Education voted on the non-renewal of the Superintendent’s contract. I think as parents we deserve an answer with facts why his contract will not be extended beyond 06/30/2014. There was no discussion, no comments, as if the Board Members had already made their decision when it was time for roll call. I have sat on committees and worked with the schools for future goals and visions and seen results. They are small, they are slow, but the CHANGE is happening.

To make matters worse, the Community for Change Members accused me that because I am close to Mr. Seto I have no complaints. He is not my relative or confidante. Like any parent being involved with my children’s education I have put in my hours and my time towards making our schools a better place. Helping the staff and the administrators so they do not get overwhelmed with changing regulations and laws in the field of education. Several parents respect my attendance, my participation, and my opinions based on facts obtained from the right administrators – at these meetings and are willing to write on behalf of overturning this decision of the current board now or in January 2014.
