The repair of faulty roadwork will result in the partial closure of DeMott Lane during the week of Nov. 28.
The township was not satisfied with the milling and paving done on DeMott earlier in the fall by Somerset-based DeSantis Construction, so the company will fix the problems, township manager Robert Vornlocker told the Township Council at its Nov. 22 meeting.
DeMott will be closed between Emerson Road and Easton Avenue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 28 through Dec. 1. The asphalt will be milled off, and new asphalt will be applied.
Vornlocker said the repair work is being done at the contractor’s cost.
“The engineering department was not satisfied, and neither was I or the many people who drive on DeMott,” Vornlocker said. “We were withholding payment and demanding that the pavement be repaired.”
Residents who live along the affected stretch will be permitted access to and from their homes, but they may be delayed or detoured while the asphalt is being applied.
