Bridgewater, NJ – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (21-20, 50-61) salvaged the series finale against the Somerset Patriots (24-17, 71-40) by winning 4-2 Wednesday evening from TD Bank Ballpark.
In the top of the second inning designated hitter Luke Murton slugged a home run (9) to give the Blue Crabs a 1-0 advantage.
Somerset grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as left fielder Ty Wright stroked a RBI single and center fielder Cory Harrilchak hit a RBI groundout.
The Blue Crabs evened the score at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning when catcher Allan de San Miguel sliced a RBI double.
First baseman C.J. Ziegler drilled a RBI double and third baseman Angel Chavez ripped a RBI single as Southern Maryland took a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning.
Jake Hale (6-3) earned the win in relief. Mike DeMark (6-2) sustained the loss in relief. Justin Berg notched the save (1).
