Warrior For Life Foundation Sets ‘Graduation Conference’ For June 17

The inaugural Graduation Conference, sponsored by the Warrior For Life Scholarship Foundation and the Franklin Youth Initiative is set for noon to 3 p.m. June 17 at the township Community/Senior Center in the Municipal Complex on DeMott Lane.

The event is designed to provide resources to township students and families focused on pre-college programming, post-high school planning, and career readiness.

The conference, which will resemble a college or career fair, will give local organizations the chance to provide insight and overview to pre-college programming and/or business opportunities, with on-site interviews and giveaways, according to a release on the event. Representatives from local organizations and businesses will have the opportunity to speak with students, parents, and families as they visit throughout the conference.

There will also be student workshops, presented by last year’s scholarship recipients, on topics specific to high school students. The student workshops will prepare upcoming juniors on “What to Expect in Senior Year,” and for graduating seniors there will be workshops on “What to Expect in the First Year of College.”

The workshops will be student-led, interactive, and encouraged to have audience engagement.

The conference will close with a panel discussion with alumni and community members.
