Township Accepting Bids For Retail Consumption Liquor License

For the first time in 13 years, the township is putting up for sale a liquor license that would allow for another bar, restaurant or club in Franklin.

Bidding on the plenary retail consumption license starts at $200,000.

Retail consumption licenses allow for the sale of alcohol for off- and on-premise consumption.

The last similar license was sold in 2005 for $271,000 to the owners of De Island Breeze on Franklin Boulevard, said Township Clerk Ann Marie McCarthy.

Sealed bids for the license will be accepted until Sept. 26, according to the resolution passed by the Township Council at its Aug. 14 meeting.

The qualified bidders will be announced on Oct. 3, bids will be opened on Oct. 10 and the council will act on a resolution concerning the licenses at its Nov. 8 meeting, according to the resolution.
