Somerset Patriots Sign MLB Shortstop Edwin Maysonet

maysonetfbBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of shortstop Edwin Maysonet.

Maysonet has Major League experience with the Houston Astros in 2008-2009 and with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012.

He has a Major League career .265 batting average, 36 hits, and 11 RBI in 76 games played.

“If what I hear about Edwin is accurate, it will be a treat for our fans to watch him play shortstop.  Edwin has great hands and it is extremely important to have someone with his abilities in such an active position.  I think Edwin is a complete player that will be a force in our lineup as well.  He seems to handle the bat well and will be a great addition to our team,” said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

In addition to his Major League time, Maysonet has six seasons of Triple-A experience for the Astros, Brewers, and Chicago Cubs organization, most recently last season in Iowa.

Maysonet appeared in 72 games for Iowa last season and had 53 hits, 15 doubles, six home runs, and 33 RBI.

He has a minor league career .254 average, 864 hits, 198 doubles, 24 triples, 51 home runs, and 366 RBI in 995 games played.
