Revolutionary History Will Come To Life At June 8th Somerset Patriots Game

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Get ready to immerse yourself in the year 1777! On Saturday, June 8, Revolutionary Spirit Night will transport fans back in time to when TD Bank Ballpark wasn’t the home field of the Somerset Patriots, but the Middlebrook Encampment and the home of thousands of Continental Soldiers during the American Revolution.

Fans in attendance will hear the roar of an 18th century cannon with Mott’s Artillery, witness drills and musket fire by soldiers and militiamen alongside an encampment, see the Queens Rangers on horseback, and take selfies with General George Washington and the 2nd NJ Regiment in front of an 18th century replica row boat used to take Washington across the Delaware on the famed Christmas Night Crossing!

Fans will also meet a colonial doctor and his tools inside the medical tent, mingle with some mariners of the Sable Soldiers of the American Revolution, witness 18th century hearth cooking with NJ History Alive and sample authentic 18th century beverages with Heart to Hearth Cookery!

The fun doesn’t stop there though- once inside the ballpark, fans will be serenaded by the Liberty Tree, enjoy a parade of America’s flags of the past by the Society of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of NJ, and be greeted by a number of historic sites set up at exhibit tables along the concourse with fun games and activities for the whole family. These groups include Crossroads of the American Revolution, the Heritage Trail Association, the Old Barracks Museum, Morristown NHP, Washington Crossing Historic Park, Princeton Battlefield Society, East Jersey Old Town Village, the New Jersey Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revolution NJ, Jacobus Vanderveer House, and the NJ State Park Service Office of Historic Sites, along with Rockingham Historic Site and the Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage.

You might also run into a few rowdy British soldiers still bitter over the loss of the Revolution!

Fans will be treated to a Post Game Fireworks Show that is now part of the celebration. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Patriotic Baseball courtesy of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union.

The first 500 fans will also receive an 18th century quill pen sponsored by Crossroads of the American Revolution NHA.

Tickets for the game are available through the Somerset Patriots website www.somersetpatriots.com, or by calling (908) 252-0700.
