Oct. 15

A car driven by Amadeo Torres-Torres of New Brunswick struck a dislodged manhole cover on Route 27, damaging the front and rear axles of his car.

§

Someone driving down Amwell Road at about 4 a.m. left the road, then hit a mailbox, a garbage can and a sewer pipe before driving away, police said.

§

Anantkumar Pandya of Canton, Mi. was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving collided with one driven by Lisa Simonetti of Raritan at Weston Canal Road and Cottontail Lane. Simonetti said she was in the intersection when Pandya’s car turn left in front of hers.

§

Laqueecha McBride of Hillsborough was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving was involved in an accident on Elizabeth Avenue with a car driven by Loretta Colantuono of Dayton. Colantuono told police that McBride’s car hit hers in the rear, but McBride said she had to get her child to school and left after Colantuono took a picture of her driving credentials. Colantuono said the damage to her car was greater than she thought, so she needed to file a report and called police. She said she caught up with McBride at a gas station and told her she’d called police, but McBride drove off. McBride later showed up to police headquarters.

Cars driven by Jose Cardona-Lopez of Elizabeth and Sonia Brown of Somerset collided at Wheeler Place and Codington Avenue. Police said Cardona-Lopez said he was looking for an address and drove through a stop sign before colliding with Brown’s car.

Luther Gibbs of Somerset told police he was driving down Hamilton Street when part of a tree fell in front of his car. He said he could not avoid hitting it.

Oct. 16

Stephen Greeley of Doylestown, Pa. was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving rear-ended one driven on Hamilton Street by Patricia Loetzer of Flemington. The impact pushed Loetzer’s car into the rear of one driven by Nora Glowinski of Hillsborough.

§

Okumbunmi Tella of North Brunswick was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving rear-ended one driven on Route 27 by Richard Owusu of Columbus, Ohio. Tella said she looked down while driving because her cell phone rang, and she did not see that Owusu’s car had stopped.

§

Vincent Mangione of Somerset was cited for careless driving after he was involved in an accident on South Middlebush Road. Police said Mangione was driving behind a truck driven by Joao Maria of Edgewater Park when Maria’s truck stopped. Mangione, police said, could not stop in time and veered to the right, sideswiped Maria’s truck and then hit a road sign and a utility pole.

Kenneth Guilman of Hillsborough was driving down Franklin Boulevard when he noticed the car ahead of his, driven by Husainatu Bak of North Brunswick, had stopped. Guilman said he could not stop in time, and his car rear-ended Bak’s. The impact pushed Bak’s car into the rear of one driven by Michael Padro of Somerset.

A car owned by Mohanbhai Patel of Edison was hit while it was parked outside the Planet Fitness on Easton Avenue. Police said the other driver drove off.

§

Eva Dollard-Burton of Somerset was driving on Clyde Road when a deer entered the road and jumped over the hood of her car. The car sustained  damage to the driver’s side mirror, the windshield and the hood.

Oct. 17

Antoinette Harris of Somerset was backing up her car at the Matilda Avenue and Hamilton Street traffic light, to make room for a school bus to turn from from Hamilton, when her car struck an auto behind hers, driven by Nathan Sanders of Somerset.

§

Omar Cabra-Ortega of Somerset was driving through a Route 27 parking lot when his car was struck by one driven by Gavin Golley-Morgan of Monmouth Junction. Golley-Morgan said he was backing up and did not see the other car.

§

Lynn Decker of Clinton told police that she tried to stop on South Middlebush Road but her brakes failed, and her car struck a stopped car driven by Christopher Ma of Piscataway. The impact pushed Ma’s car into one driven by Absate Mustapha of Somerset.

§

Balamurug Sathiyanaaraayana of Monmouth Junction was driving down Route 27 when a car riven by Ronald Bern of North Brunswick pulled out in front of his and the two collided.

§

Michael Misciagna of Bridgewater was backing up in an Elizabeth Avenue lot when his car struck a parked car owned by Lisa Godfrey of Somerset.

Oct. 18

A patron at at Easton Avenue restaurant reported that someone stole a Samsung Galaxy tablet she’d inadvertently left on a counter in the restaurant the night before. The woman told police that she was waiting for a to-go order when she set the tablet on the counter. She said she forgot about it because she had an argument with her son.

§

An Abbey Road home sustained smoke damage to its fireplace and some walls and ceilings after the homeowner lit a firelog without opening the flue. The owner told police that she could not get the log out of the fireplace because of the heat. There were no reported injuries. Somerset and South Middlebush volunteer fire companies responded and extinguished the fire.

§

Someone threw a small garden shovel through the front window of a Harlech Way home. Damage was estimated at $250.

§

Rushik Patel of Monroe told police he was stopping for a yellow traffic light at Foxwood Drive and Easton Avenue when his car was struck in the rear by one driven by Daniel John of Green Brook. John said he didn’t realize Patel’s car was stopped.

§

Manaswi Patel of Somerset was cited for careless driving after his car struck a parked car on Mindy Drive owned by Casey Mathews of Somerset. Patel’s car then struck the front steps of a Mindy Drive home.

§

A car owned by Troy Schenck of Somerset was sideswiped by a car while it was parked on Douglas Avenue. The other driver left the scene.

§

A car driven by Scott Richard of Somerset was rear-ended on Cedar Grove Lane by one driven by Meghan Matalicchio of New York City. Matalicchio said the light had just turned green, and she stepped on her accelerator prematurely.

§

Danny Marmol of Edison was driving down Route 518 when a tree fell on his car.

§

Chen Wang of Jersey City was driving down Route 27 when her car collided with one driven by Imrose Mansuri of Edison, which was making a turn out of a gas station lot. Mansuri said he did not see Chen’s car until after he turned.

§

Cars driven by Vincent Taylor of Monmouth Junction and Susan Turner of Dayton Lane were turning left from Cedar Grove Lane onto Amwell Road when, police said, Turner’s car entered Taylor’s lane and the two collided.
