Patriots Win 4-1 Over Skeeters
Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (31-24, 81-44) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (23-32, 59-66) 4-1 Saturday evening at Constellation Field.
In the top of the fourth inning first baseman Matt Fields slugged a home run (1) to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.
Right fielder Michael Burgess recorded a RBI ground out to increase the Patriots lead to 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning.
The Patriots plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to expand their lead to 4-0. Burgess tallied a RBI sacrifice fly and another run cross home on a throwing error committed by third baseman Patrick Palmeiro.
Sugar Land got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh inning when Daryl Ward sliced a pinch hit RBI single making the score 4-1.
Mickey Storey earned the win (10-3) tossing six scoreless innings. Miguel Martinez suffered the loss (0-1) giving up two runs in five innings of work. Gus Schlosser notched the four out save (1).
