Patriots Top Skeeters 8-3
Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 8-3 before 6,952 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
The Skeeters took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI double by Travis Scott and an RBI groundout by Nick Stavinoha.
The Patriots took the lead in the bottom of the third on a three-run home run by Nate Spears (3) and an RBI single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve to make the score 4-2.
Somerset extended the lead with two more runs, the first on an RBI double by Martinez-Esteve, who would score on a sacrifice fly by Robbie Widlansky for a 6-2 advantage.
A Widlansky two-run double in the bottom of the eighth gave Somerset an 8-2 lead.
The Skeeters added a run in the top of the ninth on a solo home run by Rusty Ryal (3) for the 8-3 final.
Patriots starter Erik Arnesen (2-1) picked up the win, allowing two runs on seven hits in seven innings pitched. Sugar Land starter Matt Wright (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing six run on seven hits in six innings pitched.
