Patriots Kotch The Magic With 6-4 Win

71314recapBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (3-4, 49-27) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (4-4, 41-35) 6-4 Sunday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. These two squads split the four game weekend series.

 

In the top of the first inning first baseman Delwyn Young slugged a three run home run (5) to give Sugar Land an early 3-0 advantage.

 

Somerset tied the game at 3-3 in the ensuing half inning. A run scored via a wild pitch from Ramon Delgado while third baseman Corey Smith and catcher Kevin Kotch would slice RBI singles.

 

The Skeeters grabbed a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning when designated hitter Nick Stavinoha socked a RBI double.

 

Kotch evened the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning as he laced a RBI double.

 

The Patriots took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Left fielder Aharon Eggleston drilled a RBI triple and designated hitter Adam Donachie notched a RBI single to make the contest 6-4 which would be the final.

 

Mike DeMark (6-1) earned the win in relief. Ben Kozlowski (1-3) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 25th saving pitching a perfect final frame.
