Patriots Improve To 5-0 With 2-1 Win

42616 Bywater Throwing2Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 2-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.

 

Trayvon Robinson led off the first inning with a bunt single, advanced to second on a base hit by Aharon Eggleston and scored on an RBI single by Bryan LaHair. Eggleston scored on an RBI groundout by Brad Snyder later in the inning to take a 2-0 lead.

 

“I knew I was going to be at the top of the lineup, like [Brett] Jodie said when I was coming in here. I knew the responsibility that if I’m not on the base paths, I’m not helping,” said Robinson.

 

Robinson finished 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.

 

The Revolution cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by James Simmons.

 

Reliever Gus Schlosser (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Kelvin De La Cruz (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings pitched. Jon Hunton earned his second save of the season with a perfect ninth inning pitched. Hunton is now just four saves away from tying the Atlantic League career record.

 

Matt Bywater made his Somerset Patriots debut and pitched four scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
