Paint Fun Studio Students Honored For Their Accomplishments

Nilufar Rahman, left, is the owner of Paint Fun Studio, and has been teaching art for 25 years.

More than a dozen students at Paint Fun Studio in Franklin Park were acknowledged June 1 in a special ceremony.

The 15 students received the accolades because they had won national and international awards for their art, said studio owner Nilufar Rahman.

The ceremony occurred during the studio’s annual art show.

One student, who is in Kindergarten, won second place in a national competition that resulted in his art being featured on a cover of Humpty Dumpty magazine, she said.

Another student, a freshman in high school, tool 3rd place in a national aviation art competition, Rahman said.

Some of the art work on display during the show.

“We have 15 winners already, with six months to go” in the year, she said.

“I take pride in it because I am teaching art over 25 years, my students always excel.” she said. “This is my passion and I try to give it to my kids as much as I can.”

Rahman opened the studio about two years ago, moving it from her basement after leaving her position as a teacher in the township and buying a Monetssori school. The school and studio share space in the building on Route 27.

While the majority of Rahman’s approximately 80 students are children, she also teaches students in their 50s, she said.

“When the kids are young, they are like a clean slate, you can write anything on it, I paint on it,” she said. “They don’t have to be an artist, but when they go to spread their wings, art is a big umbrella, they can go in so many ways. Fashion, design even if you are designing computers.”

“You never know which way they are going to take it,” she said.

“There’s an artist in everybody,” she said. “Some of (her students) never did art, and they say I didn’t know I could do such a beautiful painting.”
