Lancaster Storms Past Patriots 11-1

Bridgewater, NJ- The Lancaster Barnstormers (9-5) defeated the Somerset Patriots (10-4) 11-1 before 6,832 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

The Barnstormers took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Joey Terdoslavich and an RBI single by Trayvon Robinson.

Lancaster extended the lead with three runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run single by Blake Gailen and an error that allowed Tyler Bortnick to score.

The Barnstormers tacked on two more runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI double by Vladimir Frias and an RBI triple by Rico Noel that made the score 7-0.

A three-run home run by Frias (1) in the next inning gave the Barnstormers a commanding 10-0 advantage.

The Patriots got their lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Justin Trapp that made the score 10-1.

Lancaster made it an 11-1 final on a sacrifice fly by Bortnick in the top of the eighth inning.

Jonathan Albaladejo (2-1) picked up the win, allowing a run on four hits and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. Rick Teasley (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs- four earned- on seven hits in four innings pitched.

“They jumped on us early when we made some mistakes,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “They found some holes and you combine that with some errors, mental mistakes, and not a great outing from Teasley and it seemed to be a snowball effect tonight.”

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues at home on Saturday, May 12th with a 6:05 pm double header against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The game features Ballpark Comic Con with Super Sparkee T-Shirts (1st 1,000) presented by Hugs For Brady. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
