In Your Opinion: County And Township Democratic Leadership Must Step Up

By Bill Connell, Somerset.

It’s all fun and games ’till someone loses an eye. It’s time to get out the eye patches.

Township Councilman Rajiv Prasad’s notion that this is political grandstanding is silly enough to generate snot bubbles during this cold and flu season.

The latest Prasad drama started at least a year ago, outside the public eye, long before campaign season started. We are only discussing this now because leadership let it drag out.

Being on Council is time-consuming and sometimes emotionally draining, but it should not be this complicated. Timid Democratic leadership is making it complicated. The only person who can stop this is Peg Schaefer, but she does not seem to care about Franklin beyond its votes.

I challenge Peg Schaeffer, Democratic Party chairman Ron Jordan and state Assemblyman Joe Danielsen to come to the next Council meeting and acknowledge together that this is not grandstanding, but a consequence of abuse of authority. They could have done this at the Council reorganization meeting, but chose to ignore it.
