FTPD Headquarters Is Gathering Point For 2019 Police Unity Tour

Police officers place a memorial wreath next to the township’s memorial to fallen officers prior to the takeoff of the 2019 Police Unity Tour.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers from around the country met in front of township police headquarters May 10 to start their annual bicycle tour to Washington D.C.

The event is the Police Unity Tour challenge ride to the Law Enforcement Memorial in the nation’s capitol. When they arrive Sunday, they will join thousands of their brothers and sisters at the memorial to pay tribute to those among them who died in the line of duty.

Among the speakers were FTPD Chief Richard Grammar, Mayor Phil Kramer and state Assemblyman Joe Danielsen.

As usual, the riders are being escorted down their route by a squad of members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s motorcycle unit.

The riders were followed by a handful of support vehicles from various police departments, including the FTPD’s PBA Local 154.
