FHS Warrior Marching Band Takes Top Prize In Somerville Competition

The Franklin High School Warrior Marching Band won first place in their division in the USBands competition in Somerville on October 1.

The band’s overall score was 84.6, beating out its next closest opponent by 3 points.  The band also took first place awards in captions including Best Percussion, Best Music and Best Overall Visual Effect.

The band works daily after school as well as weekends and began their season with a full week of band camp that ran from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The band’s percussion director, Ankit Somani, has worked additional hours with the percussion section. Drill writer Andrew Heyward has been on site throughout the season as well, perfecting the routine with Directors Dan Berz and Eric Diaz.
