FHS Freshman Baseball Squad Suffers First Loss Of Season To Bridgewater-Raritan

Franklin High School’s freshman baseball team suffered its first loss of the season April 28 at the hands of the Bridgewater-Raritan squad, 5-4.

But they didn’t go quietly.

Down by three runs when they came to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Warriors got on the board when Patrick Pallay scored on a Kenny Millman single. Pallay had reached on a walk, then advanced to second on a Sohil Patel ground out and to third on a passed ball.

Franklin tied the game in the bottom of the 5th inning when Pallay, who had reached third on a line-drive triple, scored on a passed ball.

Patel was hit by the next pitch, and two batters later, Millman singled, advancing Patel to second base.

Garrett Callaghan was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Patel later scored on a flyout.

Franklin took the lead in the bottom of the 6th when Bryan Smith, who had walked, advanced to second on a line drive and then third when Patel was again hit by a pitch, scored on a passed ball.

But the Warriors couldn’t hold off the Panthers, who scored twice in the top of the 7th inning before retiring the Warriors in order in the bottom half of the frame.

With the loss, the Warriors season stands at 8-1.
