Ducks Score Late For 4-1 Win Over Patriots
Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Long Island Ducks (8-8, 51-35) defeated the Somerset Patriots (5-10, 48-38) 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday evening.
The Patriots took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a hard hit sacrifice fly by Michael Ohlman for their lone run of the game.
The Ducks took the lead in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run home run by TJ Rivera (3) and an RBI single by Daniel Fields.
Long Island extended the lead with another homer, this time by Rey Fuentes (8), in the top of the ninth inning for the 4-1 final.
Patriots starter Liam O’Sullivan scattered six hits over six scoreless innings of work with eight strikeouts for a no decision.
Rob Rogers (2-1) picked up the win, allowing three hits in two scoreless innings pitched. Zech Zinicola (3-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on a hit in 0.1 innings pitched. Michael Tonkin earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
