College News: Graduations, Deans’ Lists

Anthony Michael Zapata of Somerset has received the following from The University of Alabama: Bachelor of Arts Communication. UA awarded some 5,436 degrees during spring 2018 commencement May 4-6.

Brigid Moynihan, a member of the class of 2021 from Somerset, has been named to the spring 2018 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean’s List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

Jaime Bowman of Somerset has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire for earning Highest Honors for the spring 2018 semester. Bowman is majoring in Communication Sci & Disorders. Students named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits). Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

At the University of Rhode Island’s 132nd Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, 2018, about 3,300 undergraduate and 750 graduate students became the University’s newest alumni. Marc Hani Fares of Somerset received a Doctor of Pharmacy Cum Laude. Students who received the honor summa cum laude graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.7; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.50; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.3.

Dean’s List status, which is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses, has been granted to Michael Maguire of Franklin Park in the Spring 2018 semester.

Robert Hicks of Somerset has been awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Kutztown University. Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 1,225 students during the winter and spring semesters.

Santino Cozza of Somerset graduated from Hofstra University in May 2018, earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics.

UAlbany congratulates Shuo Chen of Franklin Park, who graduated with a Master of Public Health in Public Health with the Class of 2018.

Seton Hall University is pleased to announce the following students who qualified for Spring 2018 Dean’s list and to congratulate them for their outstanding academic achievements: Ava Davis of Franklin Park, Cristian Ayala – Castillo, Ryan, John, Ian Murphy, Sabri Patel, Tanika Roach, Kate Snyder, and Kevin Suresh, all of Somerset.

Washburn University is pleased to announce its graduating class of students in spring 2018. “These students have put in the hard work required and we are proud to award them degrees from Washburn University. I have no doubt they will continue to work hard in their careers and do great things,” said Dr. Jerry Farley, Washburn University president. Raju Thapaliya, Somerset, completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science.
