Bees Rally Late To Defeat The Patriots 7-5

Bridgewater, NJ- The New Britain Bees (21-25) defeated the Somerset Patriots (26-19) 7-5 before a season-high 7,606 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

The Patriots took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a double by Danny Dorn.

The Bees took the lead with three runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Reid Brignac and a two-run double by Jason Rogers.

Somerset tied up the game in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Dudley before Endy Chavez’s RBI single in the fifth inning put the Patriots back on top 4-3.

Kyle Roller’s solo home run (2) to straight away centerfield in the bottom of the sixth inning made the score 5-3.

New Britain tied up the game in the top of the eighth inning on a balk and an RBI single by Vinny Siena.

The Bees broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Rogers, who finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Josh Thole added an insurance run on an RBI single for the 7-5 final.

Devin Burke (2-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Ryan Kelly (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits in an inning pitched. Evan Scribner earned his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 1:05 pm game against the New Britain Bees on Sunday, June 17th.
