The dream of three long-time friends finally came to fruition Sept. 29 at the grand opening of BAM Desserts, 873b Hamilton St.

After a shiny blue ribbon in the new bakery’s doorway was cut, co-owner Ari Fowlkes invited those in attendance to sample the sweets inside.

What they found was an assortment of cookies, mini-cupcakes, mini-bundt cakes and “BAM Bites,” which are bite-sized portions of their cakes.

The bakery offers flavors one would expect to find, but expands its menu with seasonal treats such as Cranberry Orange and Salted Caramel Apple cupcakes and apple cinnamon cakes.

BAM is an acronym comprised of the three co-owners’ first names : Brande Fowlkes, Ari Fowlkes and Melissa Jenkins. The three have been friends since the Fowlkes’ contracted Jenkins’ real estate services.

Along with friends and family members, those in attendance at the grand opening included Mayor Phil Kramer and Township Councilmen James Vassanella (D-Ward 5) and Ted Chase (D-Ward 1).
