Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (9-8, 51-36) defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (8-10, 46-41) 1-0 in eight innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.
With one out in the eighth inning, Justin Pacchioli started the rally with a single, stole second base, and scored on a walk-off RBI single by Kyle Roller.
“I’m trying to win the ballgame. That’s my job in that situation,” said Roller. “I’m looking for a good pitch to hit and he left me a fastball over the plate and I got good wood on it.”
It was the second straight walk-off win for the Patriots over the Blue Crabs and tenth overall walk-off for the team.
Patriots starter Mike Antonini made his Somerset debut and struck out four batters and allowed a hit in 3.1 innings pitched for a no decision.
“I worked well with [starting catcher Adam] Donachie behind the plate and commanded my pitches to throw strikes. That’s all I was trying to do,” said Antonini.
Dustin Molleken (1-1) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Craig Stem (2-2) took the loss, allowing a run on two hits in 0.1 innings pitched.
